The Area F troll fishery is a modern, well-managed, multi-stock salmon fishery that has been developed under the joint management of DFO and commercial fishermen. The fishery is a major economic generator for British Columbia’s north coast communities with annual landed catch values of $10-$15 million triggering a cascade of economic activity, including the wholesale value in the neighborhood of $40 million a year and spinoffs in the form of jobs, trucking infrastructure, and suppliers who support the 140 vessel fleet.
